 LOVE-SICK FOOLISHNESS

You know you’re in love when
Your heart skips a beat, whenever you meet.
When you’re together, life’s grand.
All is right in your little world;
You melt when he takes your hand.

You know you’re in love when
You can’t sleep, and you can’t eat;
And you know you’re in love when your heart
Remembers that feeling of helplessness
You get whenever you’re apart.

You know you’re in love when
He says goodnight; when he says he might
Have to proclaim his goodbye.
The symptoms are equal to having the flu,
Or a real good case of depression
You get as you start turning blue.

But it’s not love when you have to backtrack,
When you take a breath, and look in more depth;
And take notice of all of his defects?
Then it’s time to consider the sentence,
You might have chained yourself to,
Or your emotional interdependence.

You know he’s in love when,
He opens the door, when he’s not trying to score,
And he stands by your side in a storm.
He’s the man you most want to meet!
It’s love that grows with mutual respect
And doesn’t ask you to take a backseat.
